Btk and the protection of our forests
Since its creation, AEF Global is ready for the important challenge which represents the infestations of harmful insects in forestry, able to cause the death of thousand of trees and to result in significant economic and environmental losses. As the only Canadian company able to produce biopesticides from Btk (Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki), from the manufacturing process to the industrial scale production, AEF Global holds four registrations of biopesticides based on this bacteria (BIOPROTEC®, BIOPROTEC® HP, BIOPROTEC® XHP and BIOPROTEC® CAF).
An effective integrated management
Presently, the Bt remains the only biopesticide authorized against the infestations of the spruce budworms, one of the principal defoliators of Quebec’s forests, but also against several other moths. In this perspective, the biopesticides developed by AEF Global are ideal to treat effectively these infestations and to protect high value forests. In addition, they have the advantage of being applicable by air or land spreading, according to the formulation used.
