Founded in 1997, AEF Global is a company specialized in the development, production and distribution of ecological products (insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, nematicides, fertilizers …) for the sectors of ornamental horticulture, agriculture and forestry. Through the years, the efforts in term of development and market research of innovative environmental products made it possible to become a key player in the Canadian market with regards to pest management and applied solutions.
A decisive course
In 1997, on the eve of a major spruce budworm outbreak in the forestry sector, AEF Global was born in Sherbrooke. After three years of research and development, AEF Global became the only Canadian company able to produce biological pesticides from a bacterium, Btk (Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki), by controlling all stages of the industrial manufacturing process. In spite of this title, AEF Global found itself in trouble: Three biological insecticides registrations from Health Canada, a BIOPROTEC® trademark but no epidemic in sight.
In 2003, this unfortunate situation leads the company to turn to the agricultural sector and to transfer its activities in the town of Levis. Shortly after, AEF Global decides to turn to the marketing of new products and to target the market of ornamental horticulture, an opportunity created by the introduction of the new Code of Pesticide Management in Quebec.
These strategic choices will lead the company to join large-scale partners in the marketing, distribution and sale of horticultural and agricultural products. Among these products, AEF Global offers the BIOPROTEC® trademarks, mostly natural pesticides, PERSEA®, a distinctive concept of ecological care systems, SAMSON horticultural products line and a line of gardening tools.
An expertise which made way
Since its creation, AEF Global devoted great time and efforts to the development, optimization and production of various natural products for the control of devastating insects and weeds and to develop an enviable expertise in this field. With its great creative and innovative capacity, the company works continuously for the development of new products with a biological origin and the acquisition of technical and practical expertises.
For AEF Global, this expertise and knowledge with regards to the conception, development and commercialization of biopesticides offers an opportunity to work regularly in collaboration with institutes of research and other companies for the homologation and the lawful monitoring of their products and this, regardless of their nature (insecticides, fungicides, herbicides…).
A vision with a future
Today, AEF Global includes forty marketed ecological products and eight registrations from Health Canada, a unique case in Canada. The company works in collaboration with a network of foreign partners and collaborators to export its products, to distribute its knowledge and its expertise in registration and introduction of new products. Although AEF Global’s commitment and will to seek excellence made it possible to become a leader in the Canadian market with regards to pest management and applied solutions, this is only the beginning of its involvement in the environmental sector.
